VI. Old Business

A. Student Conduct, Danny Pugh & Paul Cronin

Please find the attached redline document from the Dean of Students' Student Conduct Policy Review Committee regarding the current and proposed Code of Student Life.  The request has been made for special notation of the following:

  1. Dr. Cronan made the motion to adopt the recommendations, Teresa Taylor Williamson seconded the motion, and the motion passed unanimously by the committee (Mr. Dickerson was not present, but his recommendation regarding jurisdiction was adopted).
  2. This has been an aggressive schedule to complete this task and members of the committee should be acknowledged for their service to the University.  These members include: Paul Cronan, Jeanne McLachlin, Rick Ulrich, Aisha Kenner, Monica Holland, Jeremy Dickerson, Laura Frank, Teresa Williamson, and Glenn McCracken.
  3. Finally, the committee did again visit the issue associated with victim rights of appeal.  At the present time, this issue still lacks sufficient guidance via existing case law, precedence as best practice, or recommendation from regulatory agencies. However, there is the intent to continue to review this issue, most notably as part of our June review of a recent OCR "dear colleague" letter associated with higher education management of sexual assault/harassment issues.  Dr. Pugh would be happy to share this information next week at faculty senate.
