V. Reports

A. Provost's Report - Bob Smith

The Provost reported on the following:

B. Student/Faculty Ratio - Kathy Van Laningham

See attached report

C. Charitable Giving - Bob McMath

Dean McMath reported on the latest United Way campaign. This year, the U of A donated $175,000. Concerns were addressed by Dean McMath regarding confidentiality and the pressure to contribute. The belief is that it is confidential and any concerns regarding feeling pressure to contribute should be raised with Dean McMath and his Co-Chair, judy Schwabb. Conversations have also taken place with United Way and a new policy has been adopted such that designation of funds to specific agencies will now go to the selected agencies. Therefore, the U of A will continue to work with the United Way in the coming year but will monitor the designation and giving process.

B. Faculty Senate Chair's Report: Jeannie Whayne

In addition to a review of the items reported on by Smith, Van Laningham and McMath, Professor Whayne also discussed the following:

Center for Education Access (CEA) - Annie Jannarone is seeking appropriate spacing on campus to assist with extended testing time for students who qualify.

The Disability Services committee now has a faculty member on it.

Concerns have been raised regarding the retirement of Chancellor White and the search for his replacement. The Faculty Senate and Campus Faculty have invited President Sugg to speak to the faculty and he will do so on Wednesday, January 23, at 3:30 in Giffels Auditorium.
